In general, it is best to leave a campaign page open for donations. There is usually nothing to be gained by making a donor make a donation elsewhere – if they arrived at a specific page to donate, just let them donate and sort out the details later.
If there is a specific reason to close a campaign and not allow people to donate through its page, there are a few things you can do, depending on what you want to achieve:
1. Hide the donate form for that page (using the toggle at the bottom of the Form tab). The page will remain visible, but the donate form and related content will not appear, making it impossible to donate. The content, images, progress bar and donor list will remain visible, so people can still see the content and progress related to the campain.
2. Edit the text on the page using PageBuilder. In addition to hiding the form, you can add a message stating that the campaign is closed, thanking donors, providing a link to make a donation, etc.
3. Change the URL for the page (in the Advanced tab) if you don't want people to visit the page at all (unless they are given the new URL). If someone clicks an old link to the page it will just bounce to the root URL (home page) for the domain or subdomain.
Active vs Inactive Dashboard Setting
The Active/Inactive setting in the Dashboard only categorizes the campaign for the purposes of the Dashboard and does not affect whether the campaign is live or not.
