Important Factors for Crowdfunding Campaign Success
- Size of your donor base and email list
- How engaged and responsive your donors are
- Your track record – results from previous campaigns
- Whether people in your community will share and promote the campaign, with or without a formal ambassador role
- How much of the goal has been pledged or raised in advance of the official campaign
Are Teams/Ambassadors Necessary?
- Ambassadors can be a powerful asset because they don’t just donate, they inspire others to give by sharing your campaign in their personal and professional circles. This expands your reach far beyond your existing network, which is especially valuable if your current donor list is small or if you want to attract new supporters.
- Many Campaigns have succeeded without formal ambassadors – particularly when there’s already strong engagement, a compelling story, and a clear plan to promote it through email, social media, and other channels.

Campaign Feasibility
Here’s a quick formula to analyzing feasibility for a campaign, based on data from previous campaigns:
Total reachable supporters
× Estimated participation rate %
× Average Gift Size
= Realistic Campaign Goal
× Estimated participation rate %
× Average Gift Size
= Realistic Campaign Goal
Or simply put:
Number of Campaign Donors x Average Gift Size
This will give you a conservative estimate. You can then adjust upward/downward based on other factors such as new donors you plan to engage and the estimated impact of ambassadors if you’ll have them.
It is recommended that you secure at least 25% of your goal before going public, preferable closer to 50%.
This might be in the form of “matchers” or donations/pledges toward the campaign.
