What are Teams?
The functionality for peer-to-peer fundraising is called Teams.
Constituents, participants, alumni, volunteers, donors, staff members, and friends of the organization can create teams to fundraise on behalf of the organization, encouraging people they know to donate.
Ambassadors vs. Teams
Sometimes the terms Ambassadors and Teams are used interchangeably.
An Ambassador is anyone who commits to promoting the campaign informally.
A Team is someone who is willing to have a profile on the campaign page and uses their unique link when sharing the campaign, and usually commits to try to raise a specific amount.
The Benefits of Using Teams
Through the peer-to-peer mechanism of Teams, your contacts will engage their friends, colleagues and contacts with your organization, spreading a much wider net that could:
Generate additional revenue
Increase and deepen engagement
Expand your network to uncover new donors and participants
Create more awareness about the organization
How Do Teams Work?
You recruit people to promote the campaign – i.e., create a “Team” – and decide on a fundraising goal for their Team.
You set up a profile for each Team that includes:
The Team Name
Preferred custom url link (e.g., mycampaign.com/John)
Image – profile pic or logo – makes it more noticeable and identifiable
Fundraising Goal
A brief message – suggested 25 words or less – makes it more personal
The team members promote the campaign using their unique link that displays their profile automatically when people come to the page using their link, and attributes the donation to their team.
If someone arrives at the main campaign page without using a team link, they are given the option of selecting a team.
Teams can track their progress and see who donated right on the campaign page.
